Associate

Firm

Harcus Parker is a leading group actions law firm with an enviable track record of leading successful group litigation and an unrivalled reputation in originating and securing funding for innovative claims.

The role

The team is growing and as such we are looking for a junior-mid level associate to join our busy, collegiate team and play a key role in high-profile cases.

The successful applicant will work on a variety of cases, however, their initial focus will be on the firm’s Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) Group Claim, a large-scale legal action on behalf of over 500,000 consumers. The Associate will have a critical role, working closely with senior associates, counsel and partners on this landmark case. This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of the largest group claims in UK legal history and to contribute to a significant consumer rights initiative.

The successful candidate will work in a small, but established, team of associates and senior associates, and will be supported by a strong team of paralegals. There will be a considerable amount of autonomy and responsibility from the outset not only in their fee earning work but through business development activities and promoting the firm.

We are a friendly and sociable team, and as we are growing rapidly, there is significant scope to progress at the firm.

Experience and Qualifications

This role will ideally suit a junior-mid level lawyer (circa 2-3 PQE). Those with slightly more or less experience that meet the below criteria, should also apply.

Applicants must have:

  • a breadth of commercial and/or group litigation experience gained within a leading practice;
  • experience of managing a vast amount of correspondence and data;

  • experience of working on cases with minimal day-to-day partner oversight;
  • strong academics with a minimum 2:1 degree;
  • excellent research and analytical skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;

The following additional experience/skills would be an advantage but are not a pre-requisite:

  • experience of collective actions involving multiple claimants;
  • experience of funders/insurers and knowledge of contingency fee arrangements.

Terms: Permanent and full-time.
