Client Services Paralegal

Harcus Parker is recruiting paralegals to assist the litigation team with client services. The
firm specialises in bringing and defending complex claims, often involving large groups of
claimants. This role is for a fixed term period of six months with the potential to be extended
by mutual agreement.

The role will include:

  • Handling telephone calls and emails from clients.
  • Making calls to clients to request missing information.
  • Taking attendance notes of calls with clients.
  • Drafting client correspondence under the supervision of solicitors and/or litigation managers.
  • Case administration (including data entry on excel spreadsheets, updating client records and file management).
  • Document management including scanning, redacting, indexing and archiving.
  • Other incidental duties that may be required of you from time to time by the partners and litigation managers in relation to the administration of the office. This may include reception cover, preparing the office for meetings, arranging meetings and taking notes of meetings or conference calls.

Candidates will ideally have the following skills and qualifications:

  • A degree – minimum 2:1 (required).
  • Law degree/GDL and LPC (desirable but not essential).
  • An excellent telephone manner in dealing with clients and professional contacts.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • IT skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Previous paralegal experience or office administration experience (desirable).
  • Excellent time management skills, an appreciation of deadlines and the ability to work under pressure.
  • A genuine interest in law and practice.
  • A pro-active approach to work and ability to show initiative in problem solving.
  • An intelligent, clear thinking and calm approach to work.
  • A team player with a “can do” attitude.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work on own initiative without close supervision.

Start date: Immediate availability is preferable, but staggered start dates available.

Terms: 6-month fixed term contract and full time.

Working hours: Rotating 3-week shift pattern: 8.30am to 5.30pm, 9.00 am to 6.00pm and 9.30-6.30pm (with an hour for lunch)

Location: Hybrid working (at least 2-3 days per week in the office), with the expectation of an eventual full-time return to the office.

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days per year
